Sandbox

Yesterday, Ben built the girls a sandbox. I found plans last year on Ana White's site, but we just never got to it last year. Ben whipped this beauty off in just three hours yesterday and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. He changed the plans just slightly to make it a bit bigger(5'x6') and he used six inch boards instead of four inches.

I LOVE this one. Katie is just sitting so non-chalantly watching Ben.

A cover is a HUGE must-have with all the neighbourhood cats, raccoons and skunks!
The girls have been out there since after breakfast this morning and I don't think they're bored yet. Covered in sand, yes, bored, no.

  2. Wow! I love the design! We love having a sandbox too . . . though at our new house here, it is still a sand pile . . . I just might have to show these pictures to Jonathan!! (and I'll be sure to mention that it only takes 3 hours to build:))

    1. You can tell Jonathan, that it's three hours with a coffee break in the middle, so even less!

    1. A yard of sand from Rykmans is about $30. Not too bad for a summer's worth of fun!

  8. That is an awesome sandbox! Does he have the plans to it? Or did he just wing it? The girls are playing in the dirt around a tree right now since we don't have a sandbox yet at our new place. Its been on the "to do" list for a long time! With many critters around here, we've always had a cover on our old one too, but I LOVE that it turns into benches!! Please send the plans if you have them :)
