A Coat Rack

Storage in an old house is a problem, as many of you know. We have a decent size front hall, but no closet for coats, hats etc. Our neighbours gave us a lovely old coat tree which suits our hall perfectly, and is great for adult coats, but it's too high for little hands to reach. The girls' coats were just being hung on the downstairs banister post, but with the winter season, poofy coats and snowpants just weren't fitting. I suddenly had the inspiration to make have Ben make a child-friendly coat rack that the girls could reach and use.

Ben dinged up antiqued and stained a piece of pine board he had in his "scrap" pile and spray painted some hooks from an old shelf that we inherited somehow. The stain was leftover from many projects ago as was the spray paint, so "we" made a nice, sturdy, attractive rack for $0! It fits perfectly behind the front door and holds coats, snowpants, diaper bag etc.
