Since I missed August, I thought I'd better include it with my September notes.
Ben spent a week of evening volunteering at our yearly Boy's and Girl's Club outreach program. It's always a busy week, but he enjoys going and interacting with the kids. He had some extra things going on that week as well, so he usually came home from work at 4:30, wolfed down some supper and was gone. We missed him!
We welcomed Ben's parents back home after three weeks in Holland. It was nice to hear their stories and visit with them again!
We went to visit the newlyweds, Nick & Alyce. Because they're sharing a church building, their church is at 8:30am in Vineland. We made for that service and spent the day with them. It was very fun to see their new place and catch up with them after the wedding.
Nick & Alyce also came down for a weekend and we went out to see the Iron Horse Festival. It was a sore disappointment so we went bowling instead! Ben beat us all by a mile; he's like a profesh bowler, yo.
We celebrated my Oma's 87th birthday! My whole family made it down; first time we were together like that since last Thanksgiving. (We didn't even all get together last Christmas!)
We had torrential rainfall which of course results in a LOT of water in our basement. But as a result of cleaning up the water in the basement at 10:30 pm, we smelled a funny, burning smell in the workshop which turned out to be a ballast burnt out because there was a tiny drip leaking down onto the light. So, in light of the fact that we could have had a house fire, water in the basement isn't too bad!
Sunday School started at church again. I'm continuing to teach music each Sunday morning and Katie is loving going to class again. She loves her teachers and everything about Sunday school! Emma is having a hard time adjusting to the fact that she's not old enough yet.
Katie lost a tooth! It's been wiggly for a while, but knowing Katie, we thought it'd be months before it fell out. I was surprised when she came to me all excited that she "was just feeling her tooth and then she felt it come out!" Her adult tooth was right underneath, pushing her baby tooth out. The one beside is wiggly already, so I'm sure it won't be long either.
Alex cut his first tooth! After some cranky days, his bottom right came through and the left tooth is almost through too!
Emma has been waking up in the night with bad dreams; she's usually pretty upset and her loud crying frequently wakes up Katie. The other night we were all awake at 3:30 am; it was kind of ridiculous!
We read Caddie Woodlawn this month. I read a chapter each night to the girls before bed, so it doesn't take long to get through a book. I really enjoy reading aloud and Katie just soaks it up. Emma will sit still for a while, but loose concentration easily (normal enough for a two and half year old). It's good practise for her to sit still though.
